Testimonials

A few kind words from those who have hired me over the years, many of whom also contributed to my picture galleries.

“Neil piped for another one of our family weddings, my niece and her husband, Marissa and Lawrence.  As a Church of Scotland minister I met him whilst conducting a wedding in Perth and since then I have always promoted him if anyone was looking for a piper.  He is professional, approachable, happy and wonderful at what he does.  I especially like the toast he makes just after he pipes the bride and groom in for their reception.  Thank you Neil you are the best and I hope we work and celebrate together again in the not too distant future.”

Rev P Jill Clancy
Minister of Annbank l/w Tarbolton and Part-time Chaplain at HMP Kilmarnoc

“Neil played at our daughter’s wedding on 28th December and I cannot recommend him enough. He looked splendid and played beautifully. He certainly contributed to a truly magical and very Scottish wedding and we cannot thank him enough.”

Wendy Weir

“Thank you so, so, much for playing at our wedding. Brian & I have spoken so much about your piping since the wedding & both agree it was a highlight of the wedding. We hadn’t appreciated how much atmosphere piping would bring to our wedding – in fact we hadn’t even really been sure whether to hire a piper. Thankfully we did & thankfully we found you! You were absolutely amazing. So many people have commented to us how great they thought you were & you were so good with the guests & kids, and we’re so grateful to you for that.

We absolutely loved the Star Wars tune!!! We were so excited when we heard it & it definately took away any nerves before coming down those stairs (which I have dreamt about falling down for several months prior to our day haha!). We can’t thank you enough for making our day so special.”

Siobhan & Brian Sneddon

“I would like to express my gratitude and pleasure towards the service Neil offers. He played at our wedding vow renewal ceremony at Dunblane Hydro and we were extremely pleased with the standard of his playing, and his professionalism. The whole process from booking to the performance on the day was made easy by Neil’s friendliness and attitude. I would highly recommend Neil if you are looking for a piper for any occasion.”

Mick and Theresa

“We simply cannot express how impressed we were with your kindness, professionalism and talent!  You were simply brilliant from beginning to end. You established an amazing connection with ourselves and guests. The pipes were greatly appreciated, as were the Highland dancers. You kicked the event off perfectly!                      Thank you kindly for these fantastic moments!”

Heather & Marc, Ethan & Eve

“Thank you so much for playing the pipes at our wedding in April, you went above and beyond for us on the day, even playing for longer than we had originally requested as we ran behind a little in the evening. All of our guests commented on how professional and friendly you were, we can ‘t thank you enough for being part of our special day.”

Margaret & Graham

“So many thanks for yesterday, your playing was amazing and of an amazing standard and you outfit impeccable. Even the venue commented that you are the best piper that plays there. When looking for a piper for our wedding we had a clear image of what we wanted. As a piper myself I wanted a piper that not only looked the part but also played to a high standard. Not only does Neil tick both those boxes he is a whole lot more as well.

Neil is a fantastic piper and so many of our guests commented on the high standard of his playing but also his turn out. He was more than happy to pose for photographs but also happy talking to people. From the minute we first made contact with Neil he was a pleasure to deal with and nothing was a problem.

If you are looking for a piper for any occasion  I would highly recommend contacting Neil not only for value for money but also for he high standards of professionalism, piping and turn out but also his friendly manner.  If I ever need a piper for an occasion again there is only one person that I would call and that is Neil.”

Ronan and Angela Gilchrist, Dunfermline Abbey and Forester Park

“Thank you for playing at our wedding everyone commented on how good your were and my dad especially keeps saying you were brilliant, from the moment you played you had tears in my eyes and even my dad had a lump in his throat. I am so happy that you played for us and that you were a big part on my special day. I would highly recommend you without a doubt. Not only did you do a great job but you looked the part and done us proud.”

Caroline Main, Keavil House Hotel

“Kyle and I would just like to say a massive thank you for playing at our wedding on Saturday. You have made a lasting impression and have given our overseas guests lots of memories to take home.
500 miles will always have a special place in our heart and you played it so well.
Thank you again”.
The New Mr and Mrs McKinlay – Kelly & Kyle McKinlay

“Neil was our piper for our wedding at the New Club, Edinburgh in May this year and I would highly recommend his services.  He was there an hour before the ceremony getting prepared and when my dad and I pulled up outside the Church to the sound of the pipes, the hairs on the back of my neck were standing on end.  Neil had been so accommodating throughout and had asked exactly which tunes I’d like played at which points.  Not only that, Neil must be the most handsome piper in Scotland and looked fantastic in his Isle of Skye kilt (another kind act – Neil asked in advance which tartan I would prefer him to wear)!  He was so friendly and happy to chat to our many English guests, many of whom had not experienced a Scottish wedding with piper et al. Everyone commented that our piper was so friendly and it seemed like he was really happy to be there.  The highlight for me was being piped in for dinner and his fantastic toast to us.

Thank you again so much, Neil, for being a major highlight of our day!”

Emma and Jon, Edinburgh

“Many thanks for Saturday night. You were fantastic with the audience and especially with our European guests.

I shall forward pics soon, and I’m checking others for VT. Sadly mines came out quite dark. So I’ll check with others including our Euro guests who I know were also recording the proceedings!

Once again thank you and thanks to the girls (Highland Dancers).”

Paul

Karen & David

“I can’t recommend Neil enough. He made the whole process from initial enquiry to the day an absolute joy. He also gave us the choice of Tartan he wore on the day, which happened to match our wedding tartan he really did look the part in full uniform. Most importantly Neil is the most skilled piper I have ever heard, he was simply amazing and everyone commented on how good he was. Professional, talented and a great guy to boot. What more can you ask for! Thanks again Neil for making our day so memorable love Lynn and Alan Muir.”

Lynn and Alan Muir, Keavil House Hotel.

“We would just like to say a big thanks to Neil for coming along and piping at our wedding on in November. You were fantastic and everyone commented on how great you were. Thanks again.”

Claire and Garry Monaghan, Piperdam.

“Neil played at my daughter’s wedding at the Culcreuch Castle in October 2014 and I can honestly say he played his part in making it a fantastic occasion. From his personal appearance to his manner and his input during the ceremony everything was extremely positive. If you are thinking of having a piper at your event then I would say go for Neil you will not be disappointed. Neil takes the time before the ceremony to get to know which of his kilt outfits match the occasion and he also helps with the options for pieces of music to go along with your day. Thanks Neil.”

Iain, Father of the Bride, Culcreuch Castle.

“What a fantastic piper!
Our wedding was at Solsgirth house in August and a large number of our guests had travelled from Italy to celebrate with us. We had asked Neil if it was possible to learn and play the Italian national anthem on the day, a request that had been declined by several other pipers we’d contacted before Neil. Neil informed me he’d call me back shortly after my enquiry and after ten minutes or so, and him having listened to the tune, he said ‘No problem!’ This turned out to be Neil’s attitude from the first phone call until the day itself. He immediately put my wife and I at ease and his ‘can do’ attitude is exactly what you need when you’re stressing about the planning of a wedding! To say we were glad the other pipers couldn’t assist us is a massive understatement.
On the day Neil arrived early and looked immaculate in his full Highland regalia. The look on the Italian guests’ faces when they arrived to hear their national anthem being blasted out of the pipes was one of the highlights of the day and something they still talk about now. So on behalf of them, ‘grazie mille, avete fatto un lavoro fantastico!!!’ I want to say a personal thanks for helping to add the Scottish theme to the wedding. Outstanding piping apart, the Highland Dancers were fantastic and the Piper’s Toast in Gaelic was a brilliant touch. My English/Italian wife loved it at the end of the toast when you saluted her and begged her leave…even if she struggled with the accent!
We cannot recommend Neil and the Highland Dancer’s (Nicole & Alex) highly enough, they are friendly, professional and excellent at what they do. Thank you so much!”
Mike and Lucia, London

“Neil was our piper for our wedding at Balbirnie House Hotel, 2014. We found his details when we were searching on Google for a Piper for our wedding. After our first phone call, we knew immediately we had found the perfect Piper for our special day. Neil talked us through the very simple booking process and what we would expect from him as our wedding Piper. It was also very clear that Neil is passionate about what he does and is a true professional. Whenever I called him or emailed him in the run up to the wedding he was quick to respond to any queries.
On the day he was on time and was more than happy to have photos with guests, if asked. Some of my guestes had travelled a long distance from Hong Kong to attend our wedding and it was the first time for them to see a Scottish Piper – so Neil got lots of attention and requests for photos – which he was more than happy to do.
I would highly recommend Neil Bell for Weddings, Events or Corporate functions. He was easy to work with, responsive, professional and is a great Piper. For anyone looking to book a wedding Piper – hands down – Neil is the man! He even sent me photos of his kilts and colours and allowed me to choose what he wore for our wedding. Thank you Neil – you went the extra mile at our wedding and we really appreciated it.”

“Thank you so much for everything you did on our wedding day. Andrew and I could not have asked for anything better. The pipes and drum made our ceremony that much more special. For me, being American, it gave my friends and family something different to experience at a wedding and for Andrew, as a Scot, having you play gave our wedding a more traditional Scottish flare. You wereboth fantastic! And I would recommend you to anyone. Thank you again for everything.”
Maura Huntington De Felice, Culcreuch Castle

“Thank you very much for last night. You were fantastic and everyone commented on how good you were. I will definitely be recommending you to anyone I know needing a piper in the future.”
Martin, Falkirk

“Dave and I would just like to say a massive thank you to Neil for being part of our special day, not only for the professionalism he showed when dealing with us throughout the planning process, but on the day as well. It meant more to us than words can express that Neil went out of his way to learn a tune, ‘Unchained Melody’, which had such sentimental meaning to us, when other pipers wouldn’t give us the time of day. we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Neil to anybody, he was magnificent and many of our guests complimented on his performance and choice of tunes, especially ‘Waltzing Matilda’.”
Kim & Dave King

“Thank you for being a part of our special day, we were absolutely delighted with your performance and know our guests were equally impressed. Many of them were full of compliments for both your playing and your wonderful Piper’s Toast to the Bride and Groom. We would definitely recommend you and have already done so to close family and friends due to be married next year.”
Susan and Kristofer

“Neil, thanks you so much for being our piper on our wedding day on 3rd July. We thoroughly enjoyed having you as part of our big day. Thanks so much for learning ‘Wake me up by Avicci’ for our exit from the church. We are glad you enjoyed your day too. You were very helpful from the 1st day we enquired and we will highly recommend you to others we know getting married. Thanks again.”
Jennie and Ian Pearson

“I’d like to say a heartfelt thank you for adding such a special dimension to my wedding day. Not only did you play beautifully, but you were super-friendly and smiley, posing for photos with my guests and making sure I was alright before the big ‘walk-down-the aisle’ moment. You blew my English guests away, many of whom hadn’t heard live bagpipes before. Hearing you play ‘Highland Cathedral’ as I walkd towards my now husband is a moment I’ll never forget. Thank you so much. Oh – and you looked fantastic!”
 Helen & Paul, Solsgirth House

“What can we say apart from thank you so much, you helped to add to our special day. You and your drummer were amazing and as half the wedding guests were English they were in awe. We received numerous comments from our guests to say how brilliant you both were. Our warmest of thanks to you both as you helped to ensure our day was unforgettable.”

It sounded absolutely perfect! You were so personable and willing to take photos with our guests. “Neil played at both our wedding ceremony at the Wallace Monument as well as our reception the following day at Dunkeld House.
He was absolutely fabulous both days and a huge highlight of our wedding. All our guests thought Neil was fantastic and he really integrated and got involved having a laugh with our guests.
My husband always had a particular piece of music, The Gael, that he really wanted for when I arrived at the wedding ceremony. Neil was absolutely fabulous. He gave advice on speed, timing etc that was really helpful. Neil even went to the trouble of learning a piece of music which Grant asked for. How many pipers would go to that trouble!
We cannot recommend Neil highly enough. He was absolutely fabulous and a total pleasure to work with. He was more than a piper but an all round lovely person and great source of entertainment on both days. Look no further Neil is fab!”

without exception, they thought the piping was marvellous. It was the
highlight of the evening for them. One of our English guests e-mailed me a

” I was very impressed with how beautiful your pipes sounded.  I knew that you were a veteran piper.  It wasn’t my intention to announce myself as a piper when we got off the coach, but I overheard someone make mention of the fact to you. You would be the envy of any piper I know here at home. I found your info on your website. Very nice!”
Ron, a visiting piper from New Mexico.
